"Learn to prevent and deal with job burnout effect"

Job strain is a long-standing problem for nurses and care workers irrespective of nationality, type of nursing training, area or type of clinical or nonclinical work. Nurses and care workers are stressful jobs, as they are characterized by exposure to a wide range of potentially stressful situations and conditions. Job stressors include factors such as excessive or high workloads, irregular and unsocial hours of work, physical tiredness, the emotional demands of dealing with sick patients and their families and with patients whose behaviours are difficult, and lack of staff support, uncertainty concerning treatment, conflict with other nurses, supervisors and medical staff, dealing with death and dying, management difficulties, issues involving patient care, concerns about technical knowledge and skills. There is a clear need for awareness raising, prevention measures and individual or group intervention patterns for coping with burn out.
The long-term aim of the project is to develop counselling techniques and training methods and contents to support nurses and care workers prevent and cope with burn out.
This is to be achieved by exchange of experience, good practices, case studies, awareness campaign implemented by the 6 organizations providing training to or involved in other activities with nurse and care workers.
The results of the project will be: awareness raising on the need to prevent and control burn out effects, a curricula and handbook on burn out prevention and control, a piloted training course, the project journal, project results dissemination.

The Project "There is no excuse for violence! Fight for your right to a quiet life!"

The goal of the project is to raise awareness and to fight domestic violence against women and children.

The objectives of the project are:

  • Inform and make aware the nurses and the midwives concerning the implications of the domestic violence and of its consequences;
  • Increase the involvement of nurses and midwives in supporting the victims of domestic violence and guiding them to specialized services that can provide personalize solution;
  • Develop the nurses’ and midwives’ capacity for action in the best interest of the domestic violence victims, that is offering them protection against any type of abuse and violence.
The target group consists in nurses, midwives and nurse students from Iasi County.

The partners of the Everest Association are:

  • The professional association of nurses and midwives - O.A.M.G.M.A.M.R. Iasi Branch
  • The Nursing Vocational School "Grigore Ghica Voda" Iasi

Campaign message:

  • Information concerning the types of domestic violence; the abuse does not include only physical violence, but also emotional, verbal violence, property damage and other behaviours that can inflict fear or intimidate the victims and their children. Each person should learn that there is no excuse for abusive behaviour and that the victim is never guilty;
  • The project plans to enforce new attitudes as: women and children deserve respect, the violent behaviour is the responsibility of the aggressor;
  • The abuse should not be overlooked. Nurses and Midwives should do their best to support and guide the victims of domestic violence towards specialized services.
The slogan of the campaign is: "There is no excuse for violence! Fight for your right to a quiet life!"

The Project "A happy family – support and education for families living in rural area"

The goal of this project is to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged families from rural area and it consists in activities that involve support, information, counselling and education.

We collect and offer clothes and toys to the disadvantaged families from 3 communes from Iasi County with the occasion of the Christmas and Easter. We will also organize informal courses concerning family planning and health education and we will distribute informative materials.

The project began on December 1st 2010 and it lasts until the end of the year 2011. The target group of this project will consist in at least 60 families from Iasi county. The success of this pilot project will be assured by the tied cooperation with local authorities, schools and parishes from those communes.

The Project "Don’t make a fool of yourself! Drug, alcohol and smoking addiction can make you lose the freedom of being yourself!"

The goal of the project consists in raising awareness on the effects of drugs, medication, ethno botanical herbs, alcohol and tobacco consumption and addiction.

The objectives of the project are:

  • Inform nurses, midwives and their patients and raise awareness concerning the implications of the consumption and addiction of drugs, medication, ethno botanical herbs, alcohol and tobacco;
  • Increase the involvement of nurses, midwives and their patients in supporting and guiding the persons addicted of drugs, medication, ethno botanical herbs, alcohol and tobacco to specialized services that can help them in finding a personalized solution;
  • Enhance healthy attitudes and behaviours by offering nurses midwives and their patients examples of good practice.

The target group consists in nurses, midwives, patients and youth from Iasi County.

The message of the campaign is:

  • The campaign plans to establish new attitudes concerning the own management of the health condition, concerning the importance of preventing the consumption and addiction of drugs, ethno botanical herbs, alcohol and smoking, as well as concerning the access to preventive and curative medical services;
  • Information concerning the effects of the consumption and addiction of drugs, ethno botanical herbs, alcohol and smoking, as well as the promotion of a healthy life style.

The slogan of the campaign is: "Don’t make a fool of yourself! Drug, alcohol and smoking addiction can make you lose the freedom of being yourself! Nurses can inform you and help you find a solution to your problem!"
